Albert Road Clinic has embarked on its biggest development in the Clinic's 21 year history, with a multi-million dollar redevelopment expected to be completed by early-2018. This redevelopment will introduce additional services and increase beds from 80 to 128.
With extra beds and services, come opportunities! We are seeking Consultant Psychiatrists who are looking to establish a private practice, relocate or looking to grow their existing practice:
1. General Adult Psychiatrist;
2. Older Persons' Psychiatrist;
3. Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist; and
4. Addictions Psychiatrist
You will be responsible for providing inpatient and outpatient treatment and care to private patients referred to you by Albert Road Clinic's extensive and supportive GP network.

As one of the largest private providers of mental health in Victoria, Albert Road Clinic offers an extensive range of inpatient and outpatient programs for adults, adolescents and older person's:
Adult Units - designed to accommodate adult patients requiring acute psychiatric intervention, including those with addictions;
Intensive Care Unit - a high dependency unit which provides a short term intensive therapeutic environment.
Adolescent Unit - for adults and young adults 12-22 years who may present with a range of psychiatric problems including depression, anxiety, psychosis, school refusal, social and behavioural problems.
Older Persons Unit - designed to accommodate older patients requiring acute psychiatric intervention, including those with memory loss and confusion.
Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) - provides leading electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) clinical, training and research service. Patients can be referred to this service by their treating psychiatrist.
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) - a non-invasive treatment for patients with depression. Patients can be referred to this service by their treating Psychiatrist.
Adult Day Program - group programs currently provided include Mood Disorders, Lifeskills, PARI (Psychosis and Related Illnesses), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Wellness, Anxiety Management Group and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Group;
Seniors Day Program - provides ongoing treatment for those not requiring inpatient care and assists in the maintenance of optimal health and independent living.
Adolescent Day Program – treatment includes individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, parent and sibling support and liaison with school, work and community services.
Addictions Service – assists people aged 18 years and older who have co-occurring alcohol and other drug and mental health problems with the aim to assist them to reduce and stop their alcohol and other drug problem.
Facilitates maximum recovery, via ongoing treatment, support and individual rehabilitation, which is provided in a home environment. The program operates Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays).

The Professorial Psychiatry Unit (University of Melbourne Chair of Psychiatry) at Albert Road Clinic developed in 1996. The Unit is active in teaching and research for undergraduate, graduate and post graduate trainees and supports a Registrar service. It also adds to clinical services within the hospital, with consultants providing assessment, treatment and second opinion services.
Applicants must have FRANZCP, Specialist registration with AHPRA and eligible for an unrestricted Medicare provider number.
