St Andrew’s Ipswich Private Hospital commenced the largest redevelopment project in the hospital’s 107 year history in January 2017. Completion of the new development will see the opening of the first private Emergency Centre within the Ipswich and West Moreton Region. Patients and their families will no longer have to travel to Brisbane to receive private emergency care.
A new intensive care unit will support the Emergency Centre and expanding surgical and medical services via the addition of two new operating theatres, with an accompanying 81 new private patient rooms; increasing the capacity of the hospital from 97 to 178 total beds.
With a predicted 5% population growth to occur in the region by 2031 Maternity and Paediatric Services were at the forefront of redevelopment plans. A new 26 bed Maternity Unit will provide young families with quality local obstetric and paediatric services, supported by three new labour delivery suites.
Rehabilitation services will also benefit from the project, with the redesign facilitating the provision of a 21 bed rehabilitation ward with accompanying gymnasium. A new multi-deck car park will also provide plenty of on-campus parking, promoting easy access to the hospital. The redevelopment will provide a new front entry, expanded reception areas and retail support space. Building works are expected to be completed by August 2018.
The hospital is located in the heart of the CBD medical precinct.  Specialist rooms are located onsite and within surrounding streets. Previous developments have seen the establishment of a Cardiac Catheter Laboratory and a Medical Oncology/Day Infusion Centre.
